Society joins celebration of National Corndog Day

Representatives from Mermaid Society SMTX will be join Main Street San Marcos in celebrating National Corndog Day, this Saturday, March 19, on the Courthouse Square in downtown San Marcos from noon to 3 p.m. In addition to enjoying corndogs and other activities, visitors can learn more about Mermaid Society SMTX and current plans for the upcoming Mermaid Week SMTX celebration slated to take place Sept. 10-17 throughout San Marcos. Free temporary tattoos will be distributed and visitors to the booth will be able to place their order for the Society signature T-shirts that have been developed as part of the effort. Cost for the shirts is $20. Three different designs will help spread the word about the Society and build momentum for the group’s week-long celebration to include The Mermaid Society Ball, Downtown Parade and lastly, The Mermaid Splash, a music, art and river stewardship festival. San Marcos’ National Corndog Day celebration coincides with Art Squared, the monthly arts market that begins its fourth season this Saturday on the historic Courthouse lawn from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
